Sharma Model Aero Engines have been manufacturing model engines in Jodhpur, India since 1974. They have produced both diesel and glow-plug models, although they are best known for their diesel engines in 1.5 cc, 2.5 cc and 3.2 cc displacements. At first glance, these units appear to be very much influenced by the design of the PAW engines from Macclesfield, England. However, a closer examination reveals that they embody a number of design features which distinguish them very clearly from the PAW designs. They are well-made and sturdy units having highly acceptable levels of performance by "classic" standards and representing excellent value for money.
I've been using Sharma diesel engines with complete satisfaction since 1997, always finding them to be more than acceptable in terms of both quality and performance. Although the company's network of world-wide distrinutors has more or less disappeared in recent years due to changing market conditions for model engines, they have followed the lead of Enya and others in continuing to sell their products on line. Their glow-plug models have been discontinued, at least for now, but their diesel models all remain available.
The company's products are listed on the company web-site. Reference is made to the company's on-line store, but here a word of caution is necessary. Current regulations in India have made it impossible for the company to operate the on-line payment system for overseas customers. Accordingly, it's best to decide on the product(s) that you wish to buy and then contact the company directly by email. They are very responsive to such requests and will immediately send an email invoice complete with the available payment options. Unless otherwise specified by the customer, all overseas purchases are shipped through the very efficient EMS courier service, which I have used myself with complete satisfaction.
A review of the previously-linked web-site reveals that the Sharma company offers more than just I/C engines - they also sell kits and propellors. Well worth checking out in my view!
