Consideration of the Cométe range from Paris, France takes us back to the WW2 years – a very difficult period for French model engine manufacturers. This short-lived range made its initial appearance in 1943 during the period of German occupation of much of the French homeland and remained in production through 1946. Both spark ignition and diesel models were developed. I’ve collaborated with Maris Dislers in taking a close-up look at the Cométe range. The article includes bench tests of examples of both types.
